No Eye of the Storm

A few months ago I hoped that after putting our stuff into a shipping container things would get quieter. Alas, reality proved this expectation to be wrong... Much has happened since my last blog, so here is an update.

All lights are green. Paperwork, a school for our son, the sale of our apartment, buying a new house and the arrangements for my work have all been completed – as much as possible, considering not everything can be done from the Netherlands.

Our material possessions are floating somewhere in the Atlantic. Don't worry, they're on a boat ;-) and they're supposed to arrive on Curacao by the end of January. Early February we will fly to Curacao and move into our new house. I expect to be quite busy the first few weeks...

Below an impression of our last weeks in the Netherlands.

Winter in the Netherlands. Gloves, cap and scarf. Soon, we won’t need this anymore...
Moving isn’t cheap, but at least we had people to pack our belongings according to the requirements of shipping by sea
(and the insurance, of course). Jona likes to play ‘hide and seek’ in a maze of movingboxes.

Time to transport everything into a shipping container. It wasn’t small, but still it was full at the end… it’s amazing how much stuff one collects if one doesn’t move for 20 years,

Last week, we realized that we have never travelled by train with Jona. No such thing on Curacao, so we made it a priority before our departure - and went to the Nemo Science Museum in Amsterdam. A place filled with technical stuff, Jona liked it very much. We will miss these kinds of things (you can do with kids) but trust that outdoor life will be a good replacement.
